Cecilie Anna's 'For My Sisters' is dedicated to the people of Iran fighting for their freedom. It's also dedicated to Awa and her mother, Farah.
Last phrases borrowed from Iranian artist Shervin Hajipour's song "Baraye", inspired by the protests following the death of Jhina (Mahsa) Amini in September 2022. The title means "For" or "Because of" and the lyrics are quoted tweets from ordinary Iranian people, like "For freedom and a life without fear". Shervin was arrested after releasing the song but was later released. "Baraye" won the first-ever special merit award for Best Song for Social Change at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
